Newsmailer 1st Edition May 2010
Dear Client / Prospective Client,
After a tumultuous 2009 we thought this would be a good time to update you on The Research Pacific Group. Please forgive the impersonal nature of this e-mail, but such are the limitations of updates like this.
Sex, Politics and Religion:
There is an old saying that if one wishes to keep their friends, they should always avoid these topics as they can be so divisive. Yet such topics have become the norm in our offices these days as we have recently completed studies that focused on or at least addressed each of the above. Will our interviewers and moderators lose their friends because they ask all these sensitive questions of others? Only time will tell.
In the interest of client security and NDAs, we cannot go into any detail, but with seven offices across the Asia Pacific region we certainly encounter many interesting topics. In Singapore alone, we have recently conducted studies ranging from adolescence issues facing students, to cultural and artistic preferences of seniors; and have surveyed just about every life stage in between. In other countries we have, over the past year studied intimacy from the perspective of the elderly in Japan, and conducted ethnographic research to help marketers better understand intimacy and hygiene issues from a Muslim perspective in Indonesia. In India we have surveyed sex workers and their customers of both genders regarding use of prophylactics. In addition we have done work of a sensitive nature within the genres of political and nation building efforts, and about vigilance against terrorism. Never a dull day at The Research Pacific Group.
2010 and the Year of the Tiger is here Finally!!!
Ok – it is May and this is somewhat belated, but we cannot emphasize this enough. 2009 was a disaster economically and we never much liked rats (at least the year of the rat) anyway. The year of the Dragon is looking much more promising. The research industry was very hard hit and even we had to implement the first retrenchment in the history of our company. Fortunately 2010 has been very promising and we are back in growth mode again. Some recent news:
We are very pleased to announce that Koh Wan Lyn has been promoted to Research Manager. Please join us in congratulating Lyn on her well earned promotion.
Patricia Cai joins us from another agency as Senior Research Analyst and brings with her three years of Marketing Research Experience.
Janice Young joins us as Research Analyst. Janice has no previous hands on research experience but has previously worked on the television production side, and brings skills we believe can benefit our team.
Nur Hakiima remains with us as Senior Research Analyst and is expecting her second child in August.
Grace Wei has been appointed as full time Language Services Coordinator, as we decided to have a full time unit created to help grow this important area (transcripts and translation) as a Group competency.
On the Operations side we have added two new people in support of our Field Manager, Ronald Low.
Joining us as full time field supervisors are: Hesti Novianti and Magaswary Kathirvellu.
Our dedicated Quality Control team remains at 5 full time staff headed by Wilfred Loh and Doreen Lee, and we look forward to Doreen’s return from Maternity leave later this month. Congratulations to Doreen on the birth of her son.
